Boston CarbonPlus Calculator

The Boston CarbonPlus Calculator has been developed by the City of Boston, the US Forest Service and other partners to enable all Boston-area residents and businesses to:

• Estimate your Carbon Dioxide (CO₂) emissions, also known as your Carbon Footprint
• Provide tips on how you can reduce your Carbon Footprint
• Allow you to compensate for your CO₂ emissions by donating to local carbon offset programs.
• Learn about the many benefits trees provide to our city, in addition to absorbing carbon—that’s the “plus” in CarbonPlus.

Here’s how to estimate your emissions using the Boston CarbonPlus Calculator:

• Begin by clicking on one of the tabs above: My House, My Car Travel, or My Air Travel. Click on the My Business tab to contact us about estimating your business emissions.
• You have the option of completing just one tab, or completing all the tabs to estimate your total CO₂ emissions.
• Based on your replies to the questions on each tab, the calculator will estimate your annual CO₂ emissions, and display your totals in the "My Total Emissions" box at the top of the page.
• The figure in the box within each tab is the dollar value of the carbon emissions for each individual component.
